Professional Experience
For thirty years I have been writing, ghost writing, editing (developmental, substantive/stylistic, structural), copy editing and proofreading communications (external and internal) about some form of business, professional services, pensions, infrastructure/construction or history. I also provide project management services. My clients include Canada’s well-respected corporations, financial institutions, pension funds, government agencies, municipalities, associations, book publishers and law, accounting, and management consulting firms. I am a flexible team player who produces meticulous, clear and comprehensive communications.
My work includes websites, annual and financial reports, audit reports, offering memoranda, white papers/position papers, speeches, leadership/executive messaging, awards submissions, profiles, articles and custom content supplements for newspapers and magazines, biographies, newsletters, conference materials, brochures, press releases and ghostwritten business and celebratory/anniversary books and magazine issues.
I have ten books published under my own name by Canadian and U.S. publishers about history, business, or biography, including books for adults and children. In addition, my book work includes ghostwritten business books, celebratory/anniversary books and memoirs for associations, corporations and individuals. I also edit, copy edit and proofread non-fiction books for publishers, corporations, associations and individuals.
On a retainer basis, I have edited award-winning full-colour national and regional publications for some of Canada’s most prestigious associations. This includes serving as inaugural managing editor for CCCA Magazine for the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association of the Canadian Bar Association, from start-up phase through to quarterly frequency. I have been editor/managing editor and writer for associations as varied as the Toronto Construction Association, Canadian Office Products Association and the Canadian Franchise Association.
Under my “Bev Cline” byline I write for national business and legal publications. My clients have included the Financial Post, Globe & Mail, Toronto Star and Canadian Press. Legal publications included the Canadian Bar Association’s The National, the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association’s CCCA Magazine, Lexpert Magazine, Lawyers Weekly and Law Times. I have written hundreds of articles for trade magazines. In addition, I was the contract “Supplements/Joint Ventures Editor” of the Financial Times of Canada for five years.
